Amen Brother,

No thin ice for you to step on. Doctrine tells us to disciple all men. Paul exhorts us to work at the level of the unsaved, to be in the world, but not of the world.

Victor is right when he says that we American's allow things to happen which exhort evil (abortion, prayer in schools, etc.). This sets a poor example for the Rangers we are entrusted to teach.

Unfortunately what needs to be realized is that thought the US of A calls itself a Christian nation, the people are far from it. I heard it said that calling yourself a Christian is an easy and sometimes popular thing to say. Are they really? Only God knows.

Let us lift up this nation and all the others in prayer as a holy, living sacrifice to our heavenly father. That more may come to the realization that Jesus Christ is Lord and every knee will bow to Him.

Pray that we as leaders may hold our tongue in check, even when the government acts in a way that is amoral or may take some freedom away. What we say influences the boys we have charge of, and I for one do not want that milestone around my neck.

God Bless each and every one of you as you walk the path of righteousness in Jesus name...

Amen

Bob Triphahn

Here goes:

*We start every meeting with the pledge to the USA Flag

"with liberty and justice for all"

Then into the meeting we pitch whatever popular evangelical notion
we want to pitch.  I was in a Ranger meeting the night Bill Clinton
won the election over G.Bush sr.

*The boys..  let loose a string of hate speech over that event
straight from watching the 700 club and hearing Rush Limbaugh..

I may have felt a bit like them myself, *I'll admit that..  BUT!

I began to ask the Rangers just what being a "Christian" has to do
with national politics?

They gave good answers:

1. Freedom of religion
2. Right to life
3. Gun ownership

*Then I asked what "Liberal" means, as a word..

They gave honest answers:

"yellow dog liberal"

1. Communist
2. Humanist
3. anti-christian values

Rangernet had previously discussed the power of words with reguard to
differences in our cultures..  We had also discussed why US Ranger culture
does not welcome women in service, yet they are welcome elsewhere..

*Just what are the differences?

In the USA~  *We live in a bright media bubble, that pretty much
hides our impact on the rest of the world.  In our view, waveing the
US Flag is patriotic.  Haveing the boys stand and pledge allegence is
not a big worry, likewise the Pledge to the Christian flag.

In Austrailia..  *while they seem to be just like us<G> (They have
Surfing :')   They downplay the US style of patriotisum, and for
them to say the same "Pledge to the Christian flag" as us.. might
generate snickers and chuckles<G>

*So...  It's a big wide open world.

USA Rangers reflects a AOG doctrine of "Jesus first" and anything
else is less than that call for evangelical salvation of souls.

*Big Gulp- thin ice!
-------------------

But to "minister" to others the love of Christ..

In addition to sending Missonary evangelists
We send medical people, food donations, labor and technology.

This is a "Liberal view" of the gospel.

The result is that when we address the needs of others, we work
for Jesus.  Christian service is normaly one part of a Ranger powow
alter call service..  Service to others, useing the tools found in Ranger
merits and skills.

*I brought up the subject of GAI because it was a proposal made by
President Richard Nixion to insure family values and arrest crime.

The link in the recent Rangernet discussion was one of improveing
society, not *just supporting GW Bush come hell or high water...

Thanks-
*I'm clear..
