I think it is a great idea. For many years we have lacked in the RED
Cross training as "We were not qualified" this made little sense as we
taught all kinds of other things without "being qualified"
In 24 years I have taken the Red Cross Course (CPR and First Aid) 5 or 6
times.... in that time they have quit teaching first aid and are teaching
first responder training. Yes we need to teach this and yes it is
important.
The good side of this is we as common every day first aid givers can teach
and give a merit for certain training. Not to say they will be qualified
to go out and do surgery on someone. Simple age equivalent training won't
hurt one little bit. It might hurt the Red Cross pocket book
if they don't get 15 to 45.00 smackers each Ranger who wants the First Aid
Merit. but it should make better prepared Rangers.
Then if they really want to shine.... go for the Gold and spend
$45.00.
