Here's a thought, let's can the LTC.
Why should we can it?
- how conceited are we to assume that you need to study for months on end to be allowed to lead Rangers
- how difficult is childrens ministry that we need more training than any youth leader, and more than some pastors have received.
- LTC filters out good leaders and leaves a sediment, a certain kind of leader who is more interested in themselves than the children
Why should we retain it? - it is good to be trained - there are some things a ranger leader needs to know - it is good to show that you can earn advancements too
Proposal
- delete LTC
- create a number of short, intensive courses that teach specific things - all of which are immediately useful
Result
- perhaps we'll get a better balance of leader in Rangers who are more interested in the welfare of the children than in pandering to their own competitive nature.
Just a thought... Victor. _______
