I saw it like this: The numbers were declining because the older youth were not staying in the program. Many of the leaders were tired and weary and those who did have "the Vision" were kind of brought down by the tired and weary. All to often it was called the Vision but it was brought on by the moment and when the time came for the rubber to meet the road too many people got flats. There were those with the vision and those who were just do ers, there were those who liked it for the moment but had no durability because they would be there all be it ever so briefly. I miss the old program. I felt that it need to be updated, but not entirely overhauled into a whole new animal. I decided at the Camporama that it was time for me to draw my ten year tenure to a close. I still subscibe to this list because of the fellowship here and Rangers will always have a special place in my heart. But until I have kids of my own one day, I'm going to just sit and watch and help out when I can. I can only do no more than that.
