Our outpost has its own account. Not much activity, but we made sure that
the person who keeps the checkbook and gets the statements can't sign the
checks. That way, we're somewhat protected against claims that one of us
took money. I'd also suggest that you give a financial statement to the
Church Board (maybe through the Secretary)just to keep everything above
board.

By the way - congratulations on the Church growth! That's super!

Subject: [RR] Checking account for Royal Rangers

How many outposts represented here on Rangernet have their own Checking
account? I asked this question sometime last year and only got a few
responses. We are going to approach our pastor's board this year and see if
we can have one. A few years back the church board decided to have all
financial activity go through the Church Secretary and the church checking
account. That was when our church ran about 250 on Sunday. Now we are
running 600 and growing. The secretary herself suggested that we get our
own
checking account because of all the activity we have. I agreed. I know we
could keep a more accurate record of accounting if we didn't have to go
through someone who has to keep up with so much more information.
I would like to hear some pros and cons concerning this. Thanks
