Well excuse me then...
It's my opinion that often good people act to control or
dominate without thought. How you would do that is
to quote scripture as a 'sticky bomb.. such as this-
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and he will
not depart from it in his old age"
*That sounds like a "promise" right?
The thing is that many people had godly parents who beleved
it was a promise and their children have walked away from
the Lord... or perhaps they taught bogus thinking like what
we see in Rangers with the Commander holding the "integrity"
of the advancement program and the boy only seeking Cdr's
sign-off.
>
>
> Who's controlling? Who's holding back anyones freedom?
*In my example- ...and I may be wrong BTW<G>
Commanders think advanceing a boy with a pen is easier than
haveing the boy rise to the requirement with the agreement being
"no- more- No less"
...again, Commander thinks he's doing right, when in fact he's not
allowing the "meat" of the Gold track to carry the *program into the
boys heart. What happens is that adult leaders pick and choose the
shineing stars (*sons mostly) who advance easy and then ignore the
back row of the Outpost.
*The idea we fail to grasp is one of our jobs in addition to the pure
*ministry is to build independence, self awareness and Courage!
> Who's saying be
> controlled by the flesh and not have the freedom of the Lord (in the
> Spirit)? Also, God's freedom is within boundries. He set boundries and
> look what happened to Adam and Eve, they wanted to exercise their
> 'freedom' to choose, even if God 'warned' them.
*Good boys can go to Hell if "they" decide to go that way...
Charles Crabtree AoG #2 bossman told us that this word "flesh"
is a hinderence to folks recieveing the Holy Spirit, as they worry
about it.. he said "rest easy- you have been in the flesh since birth,
and will remain in the flesh untill death" He smiled and reminded
us that God's promises were to us in our "flesh"...
I think I've said enough about this...<G>

> I am neither an authoritarian, nor will I be "permissive" in my faith.
> God is the authoritative one. He sets the boundries. I will not force
> my will on another, they have to live their own faith. But as a brother
> I can be his or her "keeper".
I think we need to do some "damage control" here...
First is that none of this discussion is to be taken *personal, as I
have no idea who you are! I don't know your situation, politics or
heritage with Rangers or the AoG. I'm sort of blind... sitting here
in a Portland Oregon print shop with whirrrr'n machines and rain
leaking thru the roof<G>
If we were in church, we might never speek byond the social nod.
If we were in Rangers, you'd soon know me as a "contra" and
hungry for the boys of 2000 to "taste" the call and *passion I felt
from early Rangers, and you would know I do not want a "B"
grade knock-off sham scout program.
I've posted many-many times these thoughts and at some point
I fully expect to trip up over a compromise in my thinking<G>
I'm 48 and grew up in California, and now live in "Eco-topia"
in the Pacific Northest, land of clean water and cold rain<G>
*You can't pump out the amount of Hoo-wee i do and not step
in a cow pie once and a while<G> *So I want to be ...Humble-
in admitting I have trouble with the concept of liner authority,
and policies presumed to be "absolute". I also don't seem
to need to agree with everyone all the time<G> ...and once
and a while I'll take a hammer to a kitty cat problem.
*It is a failure of my Character- much forgiveness desired, please!

The Ranger code says- "With God's help I will do my best"

> What is truth?' Pilate asked."
Johnny Cash asked that as well in "The man in Black<G>"

Right- remember we allways sound "gruff" when we type out all this stuff,
and we may or may not pack a load of emotion when we do this!!!!
*I MIGHT SIGNAL in caps and not intend to offend, and you might
see it as a message from Cdr.Cody and the lost planet airmen<G>
