*I had a long talk with GMA #3911 recently about his Royal Ranger
carreer
and he had some interesting perspectives<G>

GMA #3911 had acted as my "Jr.Commander" and filled the role of
a real leader before the boys. He found it a hard job, and pointed to
several times where his "authority was challenged" by being "a boy
leader".

He said: "It was like standing before strangers sometimes... I would
say something that every Ranger should know, and recieve back looks
from the boys that they had never heard such things before! They
would say to me- "Make me.." or "Who do you think you are to
tell me what to do!"

*So- what was it you were wanting from "Leadership?" *I asked-

GMA #3911 thought for a while and in time described the following:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*I thought Royal Rangers was a group that we joined!

In joining we became members and found a place to explore and also to
become friends. When everyone was into it, it was fun.. and I was
very *proud of my uniform and advancements. What was not fun was
that not every boy felt they *belonged or were *Members!

If we become Royal Ranger's we will join the *program!

-----------------------------------------------

*You brought up some real questions and insight Josh, and I want to
go over them slow...

Membership in Rangers is not closed, we want boys to come and
stay, but the bottom line seemes that what matters most is that boys
hear about *Jesus. As leaders that is our primary mission, even over
other valuable lessons. That's also your job as a junior leader, to get
the boys to Jesus!

I agree that Royal Rangers follow the Code and the 4 gold points and
try to find a ballence, but like you know, some "get it" and some don't
but all need Jesus!

Josh thought and said:

*Right.. but that works against the meaning of the Ranger emblem
and the four Gold Points! Think about them as four legs of a chair..

If one leg or point was longer than the others you could not sit in it.

All four need to be on the floor and equal or you will not have a solid
chair! A boy and a Man must be stable, Healthy, and the Ranger program
suggests that we need to take care of our Mental thoughts and learn new
things..
then blend in our Social life to get along. Ranger boys are growing
bodies
and need physical activity... all these are fair and strongly backed by
every Ranger! That is the *mission to reach boys with that thought!
