I have such a hat and i wear it with a gold band with the little acorns on
the end. My hat is a triple straw campaign hat that is brown and it cost me
about $60.00
I use the tie tac as a hat ornament.
As many of the other types of Rangers, like Park Rangers and such wear
hats like these, the Ranger people here see it as an object of intimidation
and not love. (They are wrong to rush to judgment IMHO) As I have not been to
any of the advanced camps, I do not have the beret either. No around here
wears those either.
I am a hat wearing person, I am not comfortable without a hat of some type.
The Brown hat with the Ranger uniform commands attention, which is something
that many don't want to have any of because they don't want to explain to
anyone what Rangers is. This hat compliments the uniform nicely and everytime
I wear it in public, it opens up the door for witnessing opportunity as the
ministry gets explained, The part about Christ comes out and GETS TOLD to
someone that may not have had an interest otherwise. But since too many
Commanders are intimidated by it because of a similar hat wearing person who
they may have had a bad experience with, I have stopped wearing my hat
I feel that it is unfortunate that so many other Commanders get distressed
by it, because it was my main tool that I used in reaching people to tell them
about Christ.
It shook people. But though I feel that is what the needs of the land are
they want to keep their utopian status quo. With that no one gets reached,
taught or kept because no one wants to step up and do the work that the Lord
has. I praise God for those who do, but I must admonish those who don't. My
community is mostly military, the hat catches attention of the military people
and then I have their ear. This is reaching. Mostly, now I just wear this hat
when I lead the color guard in one of the local parades. Just my 2 cents.
