I'm more than a tad shocked in some of the responses I've seen to my post.
I obviously was not clear at all.
I'll try again.
Lest I be mis-understood yet again... here are the facts...
1. I love RangerNet and deem it as a very valuable resource for information,
fellowship, friendly banter and discussion, even in the 'off topic' areas.
2. I stand behind Duane, Jen and Michael in nearly every post. (Actually, I
cannot readily think of any yet that I've disagreed with where it mattered
in the life of a child or fellow commander).
3. Mis-information on RangerNet at times can get out the pocket, outside of
the list, and is can even be quite visible to non-Rangers, who may not have
a clue what we're even talking about.
4. There are those in the National Office who deem RangerNet as problematic
at times due to periodic mis-information, mis-quoted, or mis-otherwise items
that are presented as fact. This type of thing is what makes whistles and
bells go off in Springfield. (Remember, contrary to how it *should* be,
negative information tends to travel along the path of least resistance
(i.e., it's "jucier"). False rumors travel at a quicker rate than positive
information does).
5. It is a fact that this list is not private, nor is any of it's content,
so sharing information with others outside the list is not a sin....
Remember how FCF got it's black-eye... one thing lead to another based on
mis-information.
Now... let me qualify that statement by stating that in no way am I
comparing RangerNet banter to the down right shameful things that led to the
reorganization of FCF as we (some of us) knew it. I'm merely showing how
mis-information can lead to problems that the National Office gets the joy
of cleaning up....
6. No one likes to be flamed, have their toes crunched, nor their feelings
hurt. On the other hand, we're all human, we're all susceptible to doing or
saying the 'wrong' thing to the 'wrong' person at the 'wrong' time. Is that
an excuse? Nay. It's merely an observation....we're an imperfect people.
We've all met folks in churches (especially those of us who have served
behind the pulpit) who wear their feelings on their shirt sleeve, who leave
the church because their pew got painted, or their parking spot was used by
the *Uth* to sell Hot Dogs between services and other such petty
differences. There are also those who may have been instrumental in a
project that later got up-rooted or changed down the line. It's happened to
*ALL* of us.
Point?
My only goal is to ensure that kids meet Jesus. If that means I pass out
crackerjacks and tell Bible stories on Wednesday night, or follow a
regimented newly refined, pressed down, reformatted and fully ordained
*plan* passed down from the National Office... for Kids to know Jesus on a
personal level is THE goal.
It's our edict from God to obey the leaders he's allowed to be in authority
over us. There were few clauses about 'but what if I don't happen to agree'
.
*Zero* of my posts have ever been meant to crush toes, hopes or dreams....
And certainly not to hinder the fellowship and banter here on RangerNet. If
there are those who have been so effected, please accept my apologies, for
no malice was intended.
Let's lighten up and win kids for Jesus.... What have you (we) done in that
regard today?

the Grace of God."
Blessings on y'all,

Being somewhat new to RangerNet, I am confused by the posts going back and
forth about the "black eye" and other not so good stuff. For the sake of
clarity and space, I did not copy the text of the messages.
For me, RangerNet is an invaluable resource as I get questions from my
leaders that I don't know the answers to, such as making char cloth
(remember
that one Duane?), making firestarters out of sawdust, etc., I have posted
them here and have received answers that actually work -- and for free no
less. If RangerNet is used for the propagation of gossip and innuendo, then
I missed it entirely.
Regarding the pending changes, I am just curious as to what is going on;
hence, I post a question to discover what is going on. There is very little
communication about those changes that filters down to the Outposts. I
attend our sectional roundtables but not the district since I believe those
should be attended by the sectional commanders, it is a chain of command
thing for me. If we had an idea of the proposed changes perhaps we could
comment on them to the home office. I am responsible for compliance at a
community bank in Western PA. Whenever the regulatory agencies want to
change a regulation, they put the proposed changes out for comment, it is
called the comment period. (Remember the Know Your Customer regulation that
the public deep-sixed?). Then they evaluate the comments and act as they
deem best. Why not do that here? Send the proposed changes to the
chartered
churches, allow a one month comment period then act accordingly. That may
be
preferable to gossip and rumors.
Count me as grateful for RangerNet.
