I agree that it is very heartwarming to hear a boy call me commander outside 
of the church or even years later.

My point is that I am sometimes thankful when a boy calls me by name without 
beginning or ending the sentence with a cuss word.

I have ran across boys that were so against any authority figure, that to 
demand that I be called commander would have meant that boy would never come 
back.  In some cases, they don't come back anyway - in others, they grow and 
mature in the Lord.
