This was not purgatory. Purgatory is defined as a place where
souls go when they die in a state of grace, but all of their
guilt is not expiated yet. The catholics use a scripture in
the apocryphal books of macabees to support this. Purgaory
is where sould suffer to complete their redemption. Abraham's
Bosom was simply a place to wait. There was no suffering, and
the folks who were there understood atht it was merelya a matter
of time before heaven would welcome them because they put their
trust and hope in Him. They are totaly different, especially
since purgatory is a farsical catholic myth, and Abraham's Bosom
was evidently real.
Aside from the scripture that claims Christ lead a host of captives
free, I know of know scriptures that give any detail. I would
welcome any more thoughts, as this is merely my best guess at
this time.
