I have been away for about a week and have just
finished reading 200 or so e-mails. Many of them concerning the new
program. I even looked at the 49 slides and have the following four things
to say about it.
1. If they can get all the commanders to go through it all,
it will be a miracle.
2. Slide #4. From what I read there, I would guess that you
can be a Royal Ranger and NOT camp. If this were to be true, is camping
still going to be a requirement for the Gold Medal, (patch) of
achievement.
3. On slide #20 it shows a picture of an awards vest for 3, 4, and
5th graders. This is 8, 9, and 10 years old, at least here in
Michigan. This vest has a Camporama patch on it. Does this mean that
8 year olds can now attend camporama. This would be an important thing to
know seeing that applications will be due is less than 2
years.
4. About one-third of the way through, it occurred to me that I
thought I was looking at a Boy Scout program with all the names, arrows, and
patches. I had to look at the URL address to be sure that I was still on
the AG page.
To me, if it works as an effective tool to reach, teach, and keep boys
for Christ; then I am all for it.
