These five were totallitary systems (I don't know about Turkey in 1911 and
Guatemala). In the Soviet Union, China and Cambodia it was the Communists,
in Germany the Nazis and in Uganda Idi Amin who rounded up and exterminated
those people. I don't think they would have had the possibility to escape
this by the right to posses a weapon.

Those 56 million killings have nothing to do with gun control. Gun control
does work in democratic societies. In Germany we still have gun control (it
wasn't only from 1938-45).
