I didn't forget about that but a man's evil heart is not the same as gun
control. The people killed in german concentration camps have not been
killed because there was gun control in Germany but because there was a
totallitary regime in 38-45.
As I tried to explain in my mail about the Warszaw ghetto they wouldn't have
had a chance to survive if they had been armed and defended themselves.
Actually I don't think that would be what the bible teaches. Read Matthew
5:38-41
Verse 38 quotes the Old Testament law:

38 "You have heard that it was said, `An eye for an eye and a tooth for a
tooth.'

This is what I think defending yourself with a weapon would be. But in the
verses 39-41 Jesus tells us about his law:

39 "But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on
your right cheek, turn the other to him also.
40 "If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your
cloak also.

I think this covers also defending yourself against criminals ('evil
person').

41 "And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.

This verse also covers resistance against authorities/occupation forces. As
we know from history the roman soldiers (an occupation force in Jesus'
times) had the right to force people to carry their baggage for one mile.

Allzeit bereit fr Jesus,
