Dear Rangers,
Last weekend Hawkesbury Royal Rangers had it's first ever Pioneer only camp.
It's was a great camp. Three Pioneers gave the their hearts to the Lord Saturday night.
It had rain for a week before the camp, but it stopped for the camp, Praise the Lord.
The kids had three activities to do, Hiking, Abseiling and Campcraft. The abseiling
was
great, The Instructor, Cmd. John Shadlow said they were the best group he had ever
taken. They did as they were told, when they were told. He wants to take them again.
The Hike was to the Nepean River. When the kids got there they saw what they
thought was gold. It was Iron Pirates (fool's gold). Someone used the fact the they
were after they "gold" to tell them how real gold is collected and refined. Just the
sane
as we, as Christians are refined by God. That is when the gold id melted down the
impurities come to the suface and is scraped away. Leaving us with pure gold. God is
making us pure through the work of the Holy Spirit in out Lives. It was a great
'teachable' moment.
The campcraft lecture went well. the kids were about correct way to set up a camp
site. It was fun to watch the girls move they tents (still erected) so they were the
right
distance away from each other. The cooking part went well, they learnt how to cook
"Mules" (hot dogs with a real kick not A#1's) and spaghetti and meat balls.
The kids really enjoyed themselves. I was especially proud of my boys who came as
soon as I called them. They were very obedient.
Everyone wants to do it all again next year.
The only good thing about getting home was having a hot shower and a coffee without
any 'floaties' in it.
There's a storm coming, our Storm.
