I'm standing by waht I said, here's why!
All this thinking about "mentoring" and leadership comes down to our
"core" values and "bottom line"...
(*Fictional situational story)
The phone rings and a GMA Ranger is on the other end with "Commander
Dad".....
"Er.. Dad.. I have a problem, and need you to come to the county jail, soon
and talk with some people here."
1. you react by feeling you have been betrayed and lecture on the subject
of how he was raised, your ethics and the failure of expected character in
your GMA son. "You need to understand that my house, is a GODLY
house... and while you live under my roof you will........(fill in as needed)"
2. You say.. "I'll be right there son, and we'll work this out togather.
I may become upset for a moment, but I want you to know that in time,
I'll back you %100, and never hold this against you as a wedge in our
relationship"
*Impossible?
Our minds have a "switch" and the first level is called the "Olympic level"
where we are locked in a *Fight.. or *Flight... mentality. This mindset is
where "Hollywood" wants us to beleve "Hero's Live" and make instant
judgement's, react instantly with life or death force. *Shoot first! ask
questions later.. or NEVER!
*THIS IS NOT REAL LEADERSHIP!
----------------------------------------
*Real leadership is found in "critical thinking"
Real thoughtfull "mentoring" comes from takeing time, to
get in touch with "core" values, and push aside the trivial,
noise and broken glass... to find the real "truth" at stake!
More to come-
