Good Idea Duane, Now, how do we get the Youngbucks un-busy enough to
accomplish this feat?
I understand you might consider this un-real as a proposal, but think
about how you "teach" a boy to ride a bike... mayby yur different, but
as much as I wanted to "explain" or "show" it all came down to running
along side and..... *letting go.
Last night I went to a small Outpost with my son to demonstrate fly
tying for steelhead.. It's been a while since I participated with "Old
Line" Dads in a leader-led program vs. a boy led group.
The young boy sat there stareing at the hook in the fly vise... the
materials were there, and I was building mine on my tool...
*Suddenly the Dad told me- "Ah.. get over there and HELP my
son get started!" wrierd as it might seem to you.. I decided
to finish the night and not return. I did go over to the boy and as
got close he gave up trying. I talked to him as I started to wrap
the thread on his hook, and he put his hands in his lap... at the
next step he waited for me to return to add the floss body material
and so forth untill it was clear to me that it was my fly!
Seems in our neck of the woods that even if the Youngbuck's dad is involved
they are usually to busy to attend.
I'm suggesting becomeing so real as to allow them to be the leaders
and you accept the results! If the boys don't want to be involved then
revert to awarding FCF pins and shrink events to what the boys desire to
facilitate.
*Perhaps FCF in this way might sink... or perhaps it might grow to
be a real treasure in the hearts of youngbucks, like it was for me.
As a man, I count the things I put my hands on as mine. If it's mine,
I will guard it, feed it, clean it and use it. If it's yours... I expect the
same,
but won't grab it, steal it, break it or use it up.
I must admit there seemed to be a goodly number (scouts) show up at the
executive FCF meeting. Maybe this is a good sign :-)
It is if they are involved, and feel welcome as individuals and not *just-
"Son of Wollybuggler" The daunting task of *respect for youngbucks
requires real thought, and a resolve to hand over the reigns... I admit it
is hard. The payoff is later when your youngbuck grows in confidence
and hold you in esteam for your willingness to give his that "safe harbor"
to become as leader.... like you<G>

Steak Sauce is right, yes i'ts a ministry for boys but men are ministered
thru the program to.
Thanks fer the back-up...
I don't "intend" to bend noses of the brotheren..but I'm of the opinion
that in FCF men may become members only secondary to a youngbuck!
I "suggest" that the National president be a boy!
Further- all regional officers and chapter presidents be under 18!
When meeting to vote on business, only youngbucks may vote!
Adults might 'suggest or propose items, but only youngbuck's
are the real leaders in *their fellowship of FCF.
Cdr.Dad can sit in his X-chair and enjoy the day...

Besides, the only difference between the men and the
boys, are the cost of their toys. Theres been times that FCF has ministered
more to me than the church I was in. Tell em Duane!
