Someone recently asked about an alleged Al Gore quote in his book.  Below is
the response I got when I did some research on the matter.

Michael

Michael,

Actually I was kind
of hoping people would buy books through my site rather than ask me look
things
up in them.

However, your
question has intrigued me enough to look it up.

I didn't find that
quote on the page mentioned in my edition of the book or on the several pages
before or after it.

I also don't
remember reading it or anything like it as I read the book. Anyway I'm going
to
read the book again, both in English and German.

I did a lookup and
found it on the following Web site, which isn't a very serious-looking one:
http://www.domaintrader2000.com/dov-apostate.htm

This site also makes
the quote, but doesn't say where they got it:
http://www.etherzone.com/stan120500.html

Another site did a
retraction of it that they had previously quoted:
http://www.thecoldhardtruth.homestead.com/index1.html
 and
http://www.thecoldhardtruth.homestead.com/index2.html

Two of the Web sites
above say it was from the "Gospel Ministry Newsletter". The latter site says
the
GM also did a retraction, although it is still on their Web site:
http://www.gospelministry.net/news_letters_two.html
 .
I imagine this is the source of all the quotes.

The following site
calls it a false claim and provides support in doing so:
http://www.snopes2.com/inboxer/outrage/earthbal.htm
 and
http://www.snopes2.com/inboxer/outrage/earthbal.htm

Other sites used to
have the quote because they are still are in the search engines' indices, but
they don't publish a retraction. They just delete the quote.

It sure would be
nice if people would verify sources before publishing quotes on the Internet.
Maybe they'll buy the book through my site and read it :-)

Can you
tell me if this quote is actually in the book?

"Refusing to accept the earth as our sacred mother, these Christians have

unforgivable."
