We do Ranger of the Quarter and Ranger of the Year. We use the District
criteria for our Outpost Ranger of the Year and we use the following point
system for Ranger of the Quarter.
Each week we give a boy points for the following and the cumulative points
for the quarter determines the Ranger of the Quarter.
1. Attend outpost meeting � 100 points.
2. Arrive on time � 100 points.
3. Perfect attendance for a calendar month � 150 points
4. Perfect attendance for the quarter � 300 points.
5. Wear proper uniform � 100 points.
6. Bring Bible � 100 points.
7. Bring handbook � 100 points.
8. Bring dues � 150 points.
9. Bring visitor � 250 points.
10. Attend church the previous Sunday � 100 points.
11. Attend Sunday school the previous Sunday � 100 points.
12. Earn advancement � 200 points.
13. Attend an outpost, section, division or district function � 250
points.
On the average Wednesday, a boy can earn 850 points just for attending and
being �Ready�. The boys are really excited when they earn such a BIG point
total for a meeting. (i.e. Just as in LTC training, hint, hint)
I have this all on an Excel worksheet per boy to tally points and keep an
accurate record that can be turned in to the Senior Commander as well as
making it a fair way to determine the Ranger of the Quarter.

How do you use the Ranger Of The Month/Year in your outposts? Any special
forms or criteria that you use?
The reason I am asking is our recent Sectional Ranger Of The Year Playoff
attendance was ......well let's just say it has a lot of improving to do.
Also Trent Dilford blew into town the afternoon of our playoff, which didn't
help He seems to be a fine Christian but the timing was just bad for us.
Part of the problem is parents putting the boys in sports.
Part of it is apathy of parents & Commanders.
Part of it is the outposts are not using the Ranger Of The Month/ Year.
I can't do a lot about the first two. But hope to use the latter to stir up
the pot and perhaps help with the first two.
