All!
The Ranger Code would have us speek freely with candor..
*But also, in evey way be Polite, kind, and thoughtfull of the
impact our words may have on each other.
Noell is on to an idea that may or may not have merit or
hold water.. He posted what he felt led to post, and I
for one *prefer freedom of speech over a quick flame
or rebuke.
One of the 54,000 names on the Vietnam wall was a Royal
Ranger. Jan. 24, 1968 was a hard day for PFC Mitch Silvers
USMC. In a ground enguagement, before noon the fog had
not cleared as Co. K Batt.3/1 crossed a field in front
of a village.
VC and NVA elements detected movement and opened fire
with small automatic arms. Marines started to recieve
and return fire. Air support was grounded by weather
and Armor was unable to cross the rice paddy dikes..
As the fog lifted... Marine elements advanced and
took the village at the cost of 43 lives. PFC Mitchel
Silvers went to be with Jesus that day.
*This was one day in a 10,000 day war.
*Perhaps those 43 Marines have a valid gripe.
I'm sure those who died by "friendly fire" do as well.
