When I hear of someone who doesn't want to keep score for the sake of
someone else...it reminds me of an example to a Ranger that it isn't
important to work through those advancement steps. It isn't important to
fill out that Ranger of the quarter or blue book. It isn't important to
mark down your steps to the Gold Medal of Achievement. We'll just say
you did it. Ok. That works for me.

Hog Wash.

Not advancing or not showing that you are advancing is showing do as I
say not as I do.

Commander it is as important for you to advance as it is for your boys.
You do often set the pace and your example is more than, more than not,
an example they will follow. If you don't care they won't care.
If you do care they will as well.

When I look at someone who earns the LMA. That in itself means that one
was actively doing many things that develop the whole RR program. They
went through many days of training as well as First Aid and more. They
learned how to lead a boy to Christ as well as how to run a Outpost the
Ranger way. Plus many more things relating directly to boys. It simply
makes better leaders.

The Leaders Service Award: Home Visitation, Soul Saving, Outpost
Outtings, Sectional, Divisional, District Events. If one doesn't do
these things or at least not very often then that would be a good reason
not to keep score for the simple reason that one didn't deserve the
award. Show me a Leader who has the 20 year pin on the Leaders Service
Award or the Outpost Commanders Award and you will see someone who is
dedicated to Royal Rangers.

Our Church when it started dropping in membership. Pastor told the
ushers to quit counting the people in the pews. He got tired of hearing
the numbers were down. He stated it didn't matter he wasn't in it for
the numbers. Will note that a lot of things mellowed out as well. In my
opinion not for the better. Just getting by or being in maintain mode is
less than what Jesus expects of us. He didn't say his burden would
always be light.
In the Old Testament; David said if it didn't cost him anything of what
value was it to him. I agree. When I see ministries or workers in
action if I wasn't there to experience it with them it doesn't mean as
much to me as it does to those that it cost them something to do it or go
there or send some else.

Brother strive to achieve and you will see others of your peers doing the
same thing. Maybe not right away but keep plugging away at it and one
day it will get across to them it is important to keep advancing. You as
a commander set the pace for your outpost. You lead by your example.
Lead em brother.

Stretch brother. Stretch!
