Last night I re-viewed the 4 hour documentry of
Ken Burns for PBS about "Lewis and Clark".

In the notes I made, I have four thoughts to share.

1. The Worlds greatest backpack trip!

2. The Natural world

3. Effective Leadership and facitation of
   Logistical challenges.

4. The historical significance.

Number One..
------------

Adventures start and quickly turn into work<G>
In time, they settle into something else, a blend
where vista's form a balm for sore feet and sweaty
toil. Character is found there, with the effort.

The Natural world in it's primitive state is
the result of God's design. The plants, animals
and lay of the land are for us to "Conserve" and
use with wisdom as "Stewards" placed in trust of a
resource. Your time spent there.. in the wilderness
will build perspective on the significane you are
to the Natural world. Stand on the Conential divide,
and you feel your proper size.. *extra small<G>

If you bring that perspective back to your "world"
it will make you a better leader, friend and citizen.

It takes Courage.. to climb a high peak, it takes
resolve and effort, but to bring others along, as
we are called to do takes *Leadership. When we are
locked in a wilderness adventure we learn we must
compel rather than ...order. Befriend and encourage
the weak, and lead with *vision.

The significance of the adventures we join, will
leave their mark on our outlook and our Faith in
things greater than ourselves. This is why we must
not fail to do our best in all we attempt. Our
heritage must be pure from compromise and question.
When we recive an award, we know we have earned it
No more- no less than what is required. The end
result is found in our enhanced quality of life,
and what we will share with the future.
