Ah, right.
For war overlay based war's dependency:tree won't be good enough as Maven is
completely unaware of "embedded" jars within the overlayed war.
Actually, that's one of the main reasons I don't really like using war
overlays: although they can be very convenient to get started, they also can
become a "duplicate jars "nightmare.
The problem with Shindig however is that they don't have a proper separation of
their war dependencies (e.g. like a separate pom dependency). If they would we
could easily "build" our own shindig server.
We need to start talking with them about such improvements and enhancements
sometime soon, but that is a separate subject.
Anyway, so for war overlay based projects dependency:tree will help but never
can be conclusive.
And for instance the codemirror usage, which is included as resource within
shindig-server and not as a jar maven never could be aware of that.
So manual checking of the usages always remains needed. Well, except if (in
this case) the shindig-server war would have provided conclusive NOTICE/LICENCE
files for us to reuse...
