I am having a problem with a new Spam Assassin/Razor2 setup. We are using the latest version of spamd (SA) and Razor2 with PMDF as a MTA. Spam Assassin is configured to use Razor2 for rbl checks and I am extremely happy with the close to 80% spam catch rate. The problem that I am having is that mail delivery with Razor2 checks on has increased our MTA's delivery time by at least 20-40%. Mail delivery that used to take 0.1 - 0.4 seconds is now taking 1.6 to 4.0 seconds.
Has any else experience this? Is there a way to make Razor2 more efficient?
I really love how Razor2 catches so much spam but I can't imagine using it on our production systems that move a minimum of 35,000 mails a day if the delivery time is increased by this much.
Thanks ahead of time,
Benjamin

Nov 25 16:53:26 Woody spamd[330]: razor2 check skipped: Can't locate object method "new" via package "Razor2::Client::Agent" (perhaps you forgot to load "Razor2::Client::Agent"?) at /usr/local/share/perl/5.6.1/Mail/SpamAssassin/Dns.pm line 382.
