I've just checked my firewall logs...

I have no entries for any traffic to tcp/7 and outbound requests from ports
>1023 are not allowed here (only a few ports are open outbound).

Is there an explanation why my Razor2 appears to work normally with
Spamassassin?

Also the SA wiki could do with wording a little more clearly given your
explanation below.
