Thanks for checking. I left the lineend character as it is. I did an update
with a search/replace to replace that weird character with a
CHAR(013)/CHAR(010) and it worked; they are back to having line feeds print in
the forms and reports. When they enter new data into the column using a
Ctrl-Enter as a carriage return, it works just fine. It was just the converted
data that had the hard character in there. Since it's an easy fix, I didn't
pursue further

div.yiv4153735184WordSection1 {} #yiv4153735184 My char settings are the same,
and I have not seen the issue either. Because of being bilingual (French) here,
we have dealt with many issues related to the high order chars (CHAR(128)
through CHAR(255). According to Help, CHAR(254) “þ” is the old DOS line end
character and carat, “^”, CHAR(94) is the Windows character. I guess a lot of
us have carried that over, but it works fine here. However, when we use
Ctrl-Enter, nothing happens. We use Shift-Enter or just Enter. There are
settings like “want returns” for the form objects. Since CHAR(254) is a high
order character, the issue might have something to do with settings like ANSI,
ANSIOUPUT and UTF8 operating conditions. Regards, Stephen Markson The

too. The settings seem to be the same in 9.5 as they are in 10.5, but for some
reason in 10.5 that weird character is actually printing in my forms and
reports. Maybe I'll submit to RBTI Karen -----Original Message-----

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Proper LINEEND character? Users have been pressing
Ctrl-Enter within a memo field to insert carriage returns. Works fine when
displaying in forms and reports. When converting from 9.5 to 10.5, carriage
returns are now showing up as a physical printing character rather than a
linefeed. This is the "show char" screen, which is identical to 9.5, but for
some reason in 10.5 this physical character is what prints rather than the
carriage return (in both forms and reports): R>show char
BLANK
DELIMIT ,
LINEEND þ
SEMI ;
QUOTES '
PLUS +
SINGLE _
MANY %
IDQUOTES ` I'm assuming I need to change the LINEEND to something, but
I'm not sure what. I've tried a couple combos of CHAR values but nothing is
producing a carriage return for me. Anyone know? Karen --
