Thanks Steve! That's one thing I'll say is that their "error file" is very helpful. I'll attach here a print-screen of the error that I'm getting. The error clearly shows that "Inventory" is no longer a valid InvItemType, as it has always been (I've tried Inventory, Inventory Part, INVENTORY, all variations I can think of). When I called their phone tech support, no one could tell me how I can fix this or why it's throwing the error, one of their guys dialed in for over an hour and couldn't figure it out. When I've asked on their online forum, I attach the print-screen and ask the simple question about how I can get the word "Inventory" in that field. Seems like a simple question, but no one can answer it! If I pick "import and fix later", it puts the word "Service" in that field. However, "service" is not an inventory item. It has no cost or unit of measure associated with it, so we cannot use it. And to make it worse, you cannot EDIT that field! So even if my user wanted to manually change the inventory type of 300 imported records, they couldn't!!! However, if you manually add an inventory item, you can select "inventory" as the type and it works great. So at the moment, they are manually adding inventory as they sell it. We run Quickbooks 2019 and have been importing IIF files for our daily payroll hours and invoicing data for years. When we installed the 2019 version, we just selected the “import and fix later” option and have had zero issues with Quickbooks interpreting the IIF files we have been using.The software still recognizes and imports the IIF’s in the 2019 version. Intuit support just won’t help you build the IIF structure (which is the way it has been for years). It is very similar to doing a field-to-field mapping to set up UPS Worldship, which I've done a couple times, so I thought this'd be a perfect replacement! And I get an error message something like this: "Your current Unit of Measure setting is Off, but you made this mapping while the Unit of Measure is On. Edit your mapping or add a new one" Wait, huh?? We don't use UOM (inventory is serialized), so yes UOM is set off. But how is it all of a sudden "On" when I created the map? I tried setting UOM back on for a moment, but then I get tons of error messages that every inventory item needs a UOM (slight freakout so I turned it back Off). I added a UOM field to my Excel file and did a mapping to it, and I get an error message: "You specified a UOM, but your setting is Off" .... A shallow dive into the QB forum on IIF header formats shows that those samples are more than a decade old and one frustrated user says he cannot even import an IIF file that was Exported from QB. The culprit in his example is that the column description character length is inaccurate so the import fails, further on that example site, QB states they won't provide any support help for the import or export of said IIF files.
