Good idea.  In the previous versions I had to change the quotes to double to
get the other IIF to work all these years.  So first I'll try keeping it at
single quotes

You might first try changing the Quote setting just to check if it's QB
inflexibility between double and single quotes, which would be a very easy fix.

Believe it or not, the problem was RBase putting quotation marks around the
text values!   Manually removing the quotations marks and importing worked
perfectly!   So something changed in the 2020 QB version.  This should be easy
to fix!

Yeah interesting!  Looks like SDK is the way to go.  Their explanation of the
new "validation" process is accurate, their error file is very descriptive.
With the old version there was no feedback at all, however our IIF files never
once failed.  And it's funny how even Intuit themselves is recommending the
"import it for me and I'll fix it later".  I just can't imagine users being
happy that they have to go in and manually make corrections to maybe hundreds
of imported rows, one at a time.

I'm crossing my fingers... a developer buddy of mine says he uses Excel to
bring RBase data into QB, but he uses the Online version which I guess is quite
different from the Desktop version that we are using and he doesn't import the
type of transactions that I am.  But he's taking a look at the Excel file that
I used (and failed).   So I'm hoping he'll spot something!

Here's a link that may add substance to your argument about using ODBC instead.
It is not a long read.https://www.exigobusiness.com/

An FYI for anyone who might be interested.  I spoke with RBTI's support.  This
is not an RBase product, but is a third-party software.  It is basically a QB
ODBC driver, and RBase can be connected via this driver using SQL commands to
communicate.  I'm going to ask my user if they want me to investigate further.

Karen:
At last year's Conference, Razzak unveiled the new R:BASE <> QBooks interface.
You will likely find your solution there.

I can see since the first row of the IIF contains the description of the data,
it couldn't be directly imported or at least the first row would not.  But just
a quick scan of the information on the page and all of the samples, seems like
you should be able to get to a conclusion.

Well you can probably ignore my info.  A shallow dive into the QB forum on IIF
header formats shows that those samples are more than a decade old and one
frustrated user says he cannot even import an IIF file that was Exported from
QB.  The culprit in his example is that the column description character length
is inaccurate so the import fails, further on that example site, QB states they
won't provide any support help for the import or export of said IIF files.

Going out on a limb here....  A client upgraded their Quickbooks software, so
the IIF file that we've used for literally decades to import RBase data no
longer works.  I've exhausted their phone tech support and online forums (both
of which pointedly say they no longer support importing IIF files).  I've tried
their 2 methods of importing Excel spreadsheets and I can't get either of those
to work.   The only data we bring in is an "Item List"

Is anyone on here fluent in bringing in either IIF files or spreadsheets --
with the 2019/later version?  We would have you dial into their system, and I
would show you the IIF file that has the data to bring in. Obviously pay for
the time.
Any QB peeps out there?
