Tip of the Day: Check Camera Accessibility with DB/Variable Image Controls
Product.......: R:BASE X.5 and R:BASE X.5 Enterprise (Version 10.5)
Build.........: 10.5.3.11119 or higher
Sections......: Forms
Keywords......: Camera, GETPROPERTY, Detect, Count, Accessible

Did you know that you may check the accessibility of camera devices from
DB/Variable Image form controls?

As a camera may be installed, but not available due to privacy settings,
it is helpful to have the ability to verify a camera can be accessed.

Two GETPROPERTY command parameters have been added for DB Image and Variable
Image controls to check the accessibility of camera devices for a computer.

. DeviceCameraCount - Captures the number of camera devices that can be
  detected

. CheckCameraAccess - Tests if a camera can be accessed using a zero-based
index on the camera. True or False is returned.

Examples:

GETPROPERTY EmployeePhoto DEVICECAMERACOUNT vCameraCount
GETPROPERTY EmployeePhoto 'CHECKCAMERAACCESS[0]' vCameraAccess

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
