Karen,

Thanks for the idea.

I’m working through all the info.

I will get back on the list with ‘the’ solution.

Thanks again.

Myron

Myron:

Here's a thought. Can you use "LISTOF"? If you had a table with a FullName
column, you can do a SELECT (LISTOF(fullname)) INTO variable WHERE householdid
= ....

You could create a view or temp table with the results of LISTOF with a GROUP
BY parameter. If you want a separator other than a comma, I'd probably first
get rid of any embedded commas in the fullname (like Will Jones, Jr) and then
after the Listof you could replace a comma with your separator.

Bruce,

There is a key column (PropertyID) in the table (housedetail) that identifies
each individual house (roof) and each person in the house. So, if you were to
look at my house you would have two rows of data identified by the ‘PropertyID’
key.

Goal for the address header:

Myron Finegold and Susan Shapiro (or any other variation)

15132 Blackgold Ln.

Sun City West, AZ 85375

Best regards,

Myron Finegold

15132 W Blackgold Ln

Sun City West, AZ 85375

"... two rows of data identified by a unique number."

To be clear, is this a key value common to the two rows, e.g. "householdID"?

as in:

10001 | party1

10001 | party2

Did this for a series of gala invitations a while back, happy to dig it up
tonite.

Best, Bruce

Subject [RBASE-L] - Put together two rows of data from one table

Goal: To creating an address label that has two separate names concatenated –
for a mailing label. For example: Myron Finegold and Susan Shapiro. (The street
information and the city and state are easy)

The data: We have a table that tracks the owners of a house. (we have about
17,000 houses and 30,000 rows of data) So, if there are two owners there will
be two rows of data identified by a unique number. Party 1 – first name and
last name and other information; Party 2 first name and last name and other
information.

I’ve never done this and I’m not sure where to start. What is the best way to
pragmatically do this?

Thanks in advance. Myron Finegold / Sheriff’s Posse of Sun City West
