The problem I see is you have too many lines on the label and now also understand why you tried to create a new label with one letter and see if it works. Have you tried just removing the top row (top arrow) (so the word columbia will become higher in label) and the bottom row (bottom arrow) only and not change the formatting in the form and test that?
