It's been a while since I worked with 6.5, and I may be missing part of the
thread or code. Accept my apology if I missed something earlier.
When I look at your code - and maybe this is only part of it of the code, but
it's showing your deleting the rows first, then unloading data that would not
exist. If that's on the production db, ok for deleting the rows if they exist,
but then you would load the new report.

OUTPUT "reportname".rpt
write "delete rows from SYS_REPORTS2 whe sys_report_name = ""reportname"""
---This will delete the old report if there was one.
unload data from SYS_REPORTS2 WHE SYS_REPORT_NAME = "reportname"
OUTPUT SCREEN

MY quotes setting is the double " quote. this was just recently updated to
windows from DOS and that was one edit we didn't do at the time. I've since
found out that if I try to unload all the reports, deleting all the existing
rows in the production database, it does the delete but not a single one of the
moved reports gets loaded. This leaves me with having to add new reports
directly in the production files and perform all edits in production files as
well.

We are looking forward to upgrading to the current version 11 which will save a
lot of hassle.

Are your Quotes setting the same in both dbs?
Single quotes vs double vs ` (backward quote, a "tilde quote")
BTW, I like your idea of putting the delete reportname in the .rpt file.
I might do something like that for forms.

How can I move a report from my test database into a production database.

Here is the routine I run:

OUTPUT "reportname".rpt
write "delete rows from SYS_REPORTS2 whe sys_report_name = ""reportname"""
---This will delete the old report if there was one.
unload data from SYS_REPORTS2 WHE SYS_REPORT_NAME = "reportname"
OUTPUT SCREEN

This creates both the "reportname.rpt" and "reportname.lob" files

When I go to the production system and run the "reportname.rpt" file from the
R> prompt it crashes me out of Rbase and doesn't add the new/replaced report.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
