Well, All said and done, this is my OFFICIAL request for the RBTI team:Dear Robert;
Guys whenever you feel to kick some ... please send this blind people a copy of R:base, and if you guys will like to give them a good case of heartburn, send them a 7.0 copy when it is finished...
We appreciate your efforts to help R:BASE become a household name again!
Back in 2000, I actually contacted Ziff Davis publications, and after much nonsensical
reasoning, they accepted my offer to provide them with a complimentary version of
R:BASE to use in their product comparisons. I was told, in not so many words, that
it may or may not be included, and that they don't necessarily use all the available or
provided products when doing their articles. This was a bit of a concern to me because
I began to get the unmistakable feeling that the articles were not as inclusive as they
would lead you to believe. To this date, I have never received any correspondence nor
seen any document containing any information about R:BASE in their magazines.
You can bet that when 7.0 is released, whether they like it or not, it will turn some
heads. We are hoping at this point that they will at least give us a fair shake. Right
now, we must play conservatively because the GUI interface on 6.5++ is completely
functional, but pales in comparison to some other products out there. R:BASE's
main and ongoing strength is how it can manipulate and handle data. This is the
true test of a program, but the interface people see and interact with leaves an
indelible impression.
I would certainly hope that there is a popular and highly regarded publication out there
that would give R:BASE a fair and comprehensive comparison against other products
of the same caliber, rather than either sweeping R:BASE under the rug, or putting it
up against Oracle or one of the other Goliath softwares of which R:BASE is not
intended to compete against.
