Thanks Atxix

From what I have seen from the initial pages, I like the etheral product.
Unless I read it wrong the snifferpro was big, big bucks..

Let's not go there when your boss is an accountant.. ha,ha

ethereal is good, its free and cross platform:

i got this info from a friend of mine who says

"Usually i just use tcpdump to capture and if i need to look for content i
use ethereal to put it back together and "follow the tcp stream". You can
read back emails, AIM, tftp tranfsers to your routers, telnet sessions,
anything"

Hej alla as we say in Swedish
This is a good topic. I have just opened 2 VPN's. But realy I do not
have a clue how secure they are, I just rely on Symantec
(200firewall/Appliance) in this case.
I am the one that don't know and I am only the programming and
networkpersonal besides doing some business consulting so advise on the
topic is welcomed!
I will follow this tread

G-Day all

For those who play dual roles with programming and networking, those
who can ask network personel, or those who just know...

Can anybody reccomend a good software package to monitor - sniff
network packets that does logging, and of course as many other
features for the least cost. We are about to be opening up our
companies through VPNS, and maybe other methods somewhere down the
road and really need to look more into the security learning curve.

Any good advice also weclome
