Word is an AWESOME word processor. People whine and complain because
they don't know how to use it. Word is extremely feature bloated.
There's just way too much functionality for the commoner to use. I
don't claim to be a Word pro, but I definitely can appreciate the amount
of functionality they've packed into that app over the years.

Yer talking about WP 6.0. I remember when that came out. That program
was 'moderately' ok, but the graphical mode always screwed up the video.
Why anybody in this day an age would CHOOSE DOS anything is beyond me.

I don't know about that. Actually, I had some of the later versions of
WP
for DOS that had a graphical interface, used TruType fonts, and had
features galore, including inserting and manipulating many types of
graphic
formats. maybe I am nostalgic a bit, but all this worked in 16 mb or
less
RAM, and was stable as hell. You could switch back and forth from a DOS
look to a graphical one. Backwards compatibility was fantastic.
Interestingly enough, there are many professional transcriptionists that
still prefer WP over Word, especailly since they have medical and legal
versions. Too bad when Novell bought them, they let the whole thing
wither
while Word took over - the WP support was the best ever (except for
RBase,
of course!) - they had a Disc jockey that played music and told you how
many people in the queue and approximately how long it would take to get
to
your call every two minutes or so. Way too cool.

Besides, Emily Post insists that one break bread with your hands.....

WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS (circa 1990) is in many ways a better
wordprocessing
program than any version of M$ Word.
