An
easier way, right click anywhere on the desktop (not on an icon) and select
Properties and you will be in the display
settings.

R:BASE for DOS 6.5++ on XP
David,
In win
XP Pro: (May be slightly different if Home Edition)
Click
the following:
-Start
-Control
Panel
-Appearance &
Themes
-Display
-Settings
-> The monitor used (or default) should be displayed on this
screen.
Of default then the correct driver is not installed. If named driver
is
installed then it may need updating, or problem may be with
video
card driver.
-Advanced
-Monitor
-Properties
-Driver
(Tab)
-Update
Driver (Update here if you have the driver
available)
************************************************************************************
An
alternate path is to use the traditional Win 98 view:
-Start
-Control
Panel
-Switch
to Classic View (Seen on the left sidebar)
-Display
(then, continue from the Display line above)
.
.

Thanks for your replies. Both of you are pointing them in the
direction of
checking the video card / drivers. Can you indicate the
exact sequence of
mouse clicks / menu selections needed to check what the
driver is - to see
if it's "using the default" or "not the correct drivers
for the video card
under DOS mode"? I'm helping them over the
phone so I need to be able to
do it on my XP while walking them through
checking / changing it on my XP.
How do I find what the setup is? How
do I tell if it's right / wrong? How
do I change and what do I change
it to?
Thanks!
