I am currently reading what I consider the best book I have read to date on
Windows 2000. It's called "Mastering Windows 2000 Server" I have 4th ed.
It's put out by SYBEX ISBN 0-7821-4043-2. It's deep though. I am just a
beginner level network person in my perspective and it has shined so much
light on so many topics so far, I just can't put it down. Unless you
consider it weighs about 100 lbs.. It's a big book, small print, but you
it does come on CD with the Book as well. Had problems getting CD to
work until I installed version of Acrobat on CD.. I had a new version, but
you can run multiple versions according to Adobe. I have to run V5 and then
open up the PDF on the CD to use, but it does work.

I have read reviews that the 2000-2003 server book is just as good.
BTW Mark Minasi is the Author, and lays it out quite well.
I find he repeats himself some, but with my short memory it helps.. ha,ha..

RTFM.. OK, I had to look that up and LOL and :0 and ;) and :) best defines
this moment..

Jim, which book would you recommend?

And, would that be, dare I ask, as in "RTFM"?

Steve

I have told you wrong
16 char is what Netbios can read -- Pre Windows 2000 computers
63 char is what 2000 can read
255 is what DNS is capable of.

Just read the book.. what a concept
