Dennis,
I use SBC/Yahoo DSL on a network on running MS Internet Explorer and Outlook
on most of our work stations. However one workstation runs Eudora 6.1.1.1
(obviously not this one) instead of Outlook and another workstation runs
Mozilla's Firefox instead of MIE
The workstation that runs Eudora was where I initially loaded SBC/Yahoo as a
standalone workstation before moving the modem & firewall connection to our
NT4 Server (needed to be sure it worked, first). There were 2 problems I ran
into. One was that my original work station would not accept the DSL NIC -
kept locking up. Had to change to a different workstation. The second was
that the installation process kept hanging just before it completed. With a
reformat of the
hard drive and a clean install of WIN '98SE, everything worked like a charm.
It was SBC's suggestion to perform a clean install of the OS. Apparently
many other customers experienced the same thing I did.
Using Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, I deleted most of Yahoo offerings
as I only wanted the DSL connection for the staff and not all the
distractions. Should you do the same be sure that when you press the WINDOWS
"Start" Button that Efficient Networks and EnterNet 300 boxes remain.
In Eudora, click on TOOLS, then OPTIONS, then Getting Started, set:
Return address: "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" in my case:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Mail server (Incoming): "mail.your-ispname" in my case:
mail.succeed.net
Login Name: "your-username" in my
case: rjs
STMP Server (Outgoing): "stmp.sbcglobal.net" in my case:
stmp.sbcglobal.net
(I did not check the (Allow Authorizations) box.
Do not type the quotes; just what is between them.
I hope this helps. I'm leaving for vacation so if it doesn't, I won't be
back in town until the 29th and can help then.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Bob Speth
