Karen, Based on Paul's presentation at the conference, I am working on getting rid of Microsoft for my server and switching to Linux. Might be an option.

Why are they using R:Base? Very simple! I wrote that app for them back in 2004 when 7.1 was released, and it has been ROCK SOLID every day since then. Would this client notice any difference if I upgrade them to 7.6? It's a tiny database, they have no clue what an r> prompt is, have asked me to do no more than about 10 hours of work total over the past 4 years (no hours at all in 2008). I'm sure they would want to see some "bang" for their upgrade bucks. I'll tell them to go ahead and get a new server and take their chances. If 7.1 does not run well, then for sure they will have to upgrade! Hate to wish bad luck on them, but ..... Karen Get real and get a life! My personal response to such customer(s) would be very clear and straight forward. Why are they using R:BASE?
