A client of mine won't budge off 7.1 ("ain't broke, so don't fix it"). Just
called me to say they're getting a new server, will be running Microsoft Server
2008. They're all panicked about whether 7.1 will work on the new OS. I
told them their product is out of date so RBTI will not certify that.

R:Base runs on the workstations, not the server (no server component to R:Base
unless you are running the C/S version). As long as the file server serves up
the files when requested, R:Base shouldn't care whether it's Windows 1842,
Windows 2008, or even a Linux SAMBA box.
If they actually run R:Base on the server itself (bad practice to run user
applications on the server, but sometimes you may have a maintenance function
that runs there), you need to check out and see whether it runs -- but I'd be
flabbergasted if something that run on 2003 doesn't run on 2008 (that's not
definitive, of course — I'm flabbergasted a lot).
