RBDos of any flavor never printed to anything that was editable in word unless it was a plain text file.

You can still do that, but you need to select a generic text Printer driver to receive the output.

What exactly is difficult about editing an RTF file?

Thank you Razzak & Jim

I have played around with your suggestions.

I just recently up graded from Rbase 4.5 to Rbase 7.6.

Big Leap.

I was happy with 4.5 but Bill Gates doesn't like dos so I was glad that I
could update to 7.6, however. I used to be able to print a report to a file
and open it up in Word and edit it.

With Rbase 7.6 it is a nightmare. I just don't think it should be so
complicated.

Is there anyone that does this.

Why does the report store in a pdf file. This seems to be the default. If I
have it print as an rtf file it is difficult yo edit and a text file is
editable but very time consuming.

Thanks

Gary Weitzel

Gary,

The easy ones are usually the only ones I can help on. I am usually the one
who needs help. Have a great day.

Gary,

I just tried printing one of my reports from the R prompt using the
following syntax and it worked:

print kayParkAllCost Where Model# = '682bg' OPTION RTF|FILENAME 682bg.RTF

It opened up in WORD when I double clicked on the file. Did you use the
FILENAME parameter with the PIPE?

Jim thanks for your reply.

the syntax I used was PRINT comparables Where datesold > 12/31/2008 ORDER By
datesold OPTION RTF

The report was created but I still could not open with Word or Wod Pefect

Thanks

Gary,

I believe you want the RTF option. See Help under the PRINT command for the
syntax. See the example at the bottom of the page.

I am using R:BASE 7.6

I want to print a report, send it to a file that I can open and edit in
either Micro Soft Word or Word Perfect.

When I send my report to a file it turns out as a pdf file and cannot be
opened using Word or Word Perfect.
