Thank you all. It seems the Mac wants to control several of the
function keys to its own purpose. No matter what I tried, it overrides
the key change. I will contact Parallels [not easy to get them] and see
if they can find a solution. I may have to go with the original concept
of working in either PC or Mac mode. I'll keep working on it as time
permits.

Joan,
I have a chart of alternative keystrokes for use in Windows on a Mac at
home. I don't remember where I got it but it may have something that
could help you. I'll take a look when I get home this evening.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - RE: R:Base on Apple, revisited
Thank you, Cheryl. I'm using a Mac Pro with the regular keyboard and
don't have a FN key, since I have the number pad. I did try different
combinations with the Shift, Control, Alt/Option and Command keys with
the F4 and other keys but did not get the result I wanted. I can't find
a way to change that F4 function. It brings up the Dashboard in Mac mode
all the time.
If R:Base could give us an Alt-E to get us to the Edit Menu and E for
Edit, and maybe I for Insert row, it would be most helpful.

As a fellow Mac user (Boot Camp/Parallels) I can tell you that if you
hold down the FN key then press your F1 through F4 keys you should get
the original Windows (or R:BASE) function. I believe there is also an
option in the Apple Control Panel and the Boot Camp control panel
(maybe
in Parallels also?) for using the function keys for software features
but I haven't tried that yet.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - R:Base on Apple, revisited
I'm now [relatively] successfully using Extreme on the Mac via
Parallels
with a Windows XP virtual machine, which I transported from my laptop.
I am a single seat user and, therefore, use function keys a lot for
Edit, etc. I'm working in coherence mode, which lets me switch
between
Mac and PC. The issue I'm having is that the F1 through F4 keys stay
functioning as Mac shortcuts, so I have to use the mouse to enter the
edit mode. (also affects Excel spreadsheets)
Is there a way to program/reprogram shortcut keys in R:Base to get
around this? I work a lot with name/address type databases and do a
lot
of edits, so any help would be appreciated to speed up my work. I'd
also love to be able to jump to the next field when I use the Enter
key
in Edit mode.
Thank you.
