Rachael,

It is pretty much SOP for an employer to conduct a background check these
days, and the information you list is commonly required. However, I would
suggest that you have the right to know more about the services you will be
providing, the rate of pay, etc., prior to providing the information and
agreeing to the check. I've not heard of an employer requiring that kind of
information before they will discuss the position with a prospective
candidate, unless, of course, the government is involved.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - OT: background checks

So a prospective client is asking me to sign releases to conduct a
background check for security reasons and these forms state that I am
allowing them to access all sorts of personal information after suppling my
social, birthdate, and dr lic. Now I'm kinda okay with this because this
SEEMS to be a legit company. However I have nothing stating they are going
to pay for my services and the rate, what those service will be, and length
of service time, would I be unreasonable to requests this (and make it
contingent on whether I pass the check) BEFORE I allow some stranger poke
around my personal information?
