<< Can you use Gateway Import command to import a spreadsheet .xlsx file? >>
No, it's a completely different format. Gateway would need an upgrade to understand XLSX. << It won't work for me with the xls or xlsw command. The client is receiving these files from an external source, and doesn't have Office 2007 to do a 'save as' the older version. >> They will have to convert the spreadsheet to the older version. This can be done by opening and saving in an XLSX compatible version of Office, or you can get a (free) plug-in for older Office versions to allow opening XLSX. Since this will be an increasing problem for your client, they should at least install those plug-ins so they can handle other peoples Word documents as well. If you want the process to be completely automated you'll have to use a command-line batch converter.
