John, How do you managed to get a processor with 7 cores? I just got a new laptop with a Core 7 processor; however, it has only 4 cores (Quad-core), each with dual threads for a total of 8 threads.
I will be installing eXtreme 9.1 sometime this week and I am also curious on how to properly tweak it to take advantage of the multiple cores. So far I have noticed that when my antivirus starts its daily scan, there is no noticeable slow down in the current tasks like it does on my older laptop...nice !!! I have a PC with an I7 processor, running Win 7 OS (64 bit). When I run my 9.1 (64 bit) application it seems to use just one of the seven cores. There must be some tweaking necessary to take advantage of the enhancement. General - Significant speed improvements have been made in which commands are processed for multi-core processor Windows 7 computers." and have a question. Can you elaborate on what this enhancement does and how it works? For example: Is this Windows 7 only or does this work with Vista or XP? What about Server 08? What functions are multi-threade and how do we take advantage of this new feature? Thanks very much in advance, Scott Sherer Milwauke, WI
