You could try doing something like replacing all the nulls with some crazy negative number that you could change after import. You know like -1965432765

When I discussed it with the client, they said it would be easy for them to enter an "x" into the integer column for those that should come in as null. The gateway import has an error with stuffing the "x" in the integer column so it comes in as null. All other values on the row come in. When I asked if he would rather resave as a csv, and he said he'd rather put in the "x". I'm guessing that there's no way, then, to import a spreadsheet and have an empty number field come in as empty...
