Jan,

I recently bought a Dell XPS L502X with Quad Core Sandy Bridge I7-2630QM 2.0
GHz. Processor and Win 7-PRO. The cost was reasonable and I have not had any
problems with the laptop; so far, I have not had the need to use the XP
compatibility mode.

One interesting factoid is that when you buy a WIN 7 computer,, all versions
of Win 7 OS are actually included, but only one is enabled. If you want to
upgrade from say.Home Premium to Professional, all you need is to do is buy
an upgrade code from Microsoft and then you simply upgrade the OS, no need
of a re-install; pretty cool actually. This is really handy, as most of the
best deal out there include the Home Premium rather than the Professional
version; the cost is reasonable as well.

Having said that, you might want to wait until Windows 8 is out.

Win 8 appears to be a big leap, even from Windows 7.

Group,

Time for me to replace my laptop.

I guess you can have Windows 7 Pro installed in XP Mode.

Hadn't thought of that. What are your thoughts?
