James, Yes, you have to recompile the program anytime you change a report or form. So, as long as the system is not completely stabilized it could be better to use the forms / reports in the database. The speed should improve if you embed the forms and reports in the program, but as far as I have seen it is not really noticeable. There are so many other variables which could influence the performance of the application. Have a look at the discussion yesterday about virus scanners and the way your network is build up (speed).
Another option could be is using Remote Desktop on a server. It works wonderful when you are not located on one site.
