Sounds like you are using the task manager on the remote computer not the server, similarly rebooting the remote will note clear the connection.
You need to go into task manager on the server not the remote Mark Lindner Lindner & Associates NEW MAILING ADDRESS PO Box 327 Randolph MA 02368 781 247 1100 Fax 781 247 1143 EFAX 857 366 9691 Toll Free 888 658 4269 Direct 781 247 1160 Hours M-F 9:00 - 5:00pm -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Patti Jakusz Sent: Thursday, March 27, 2014 3:29 PM To: RBASE-L Mailing List Subject: [RBASE-L] - using Rbase using Remote Desktop Hi, We always use Rbas 9.5 extreme, using Remote Desktop, so that we can use one database regardless of our physical location. Today when I was finished, all modules where closed and I typed in "Exit" at the R> prompt. It hung. After about 3 minutes, I disconnected my Remote desktop connection. When I connected again, Rbase was still running, minimized. But it won't maximize at all. Neither right nor left click do anything to it. I called up task manager, and it only thought Remote Desktop was running. So I tried halting it that way. No dice. I rebooted the computer. When I went back into remote desktop, it was no different. I ran another instance of Rbase and listed the number of connected users. I was the only one on, so I was hoping it would say "1", but it said "2." So it really thinks I'm actively using Rbase with that "hung" connection. Our hardware guy is out on funeral leave. I have no idea how to terminate that instance of Rbase. Is there anyway I can do it? Does the whole server have to be shut down? I always have crazy problems. Patti
