Hello all,

We've encountered an unusual problem for the second time in 3 months, so I
thought I'd ask if anyone knows what could be happening.

When we post a cheque run in a non-R:Base accounting program, we create an
ASCII file that can be loaded into our Cash database, which uses RB6.5Dos.
This has loaded without a problem every time but two. In these two
situations, the resulting error was very unusual and quite distressing. We
end up with over 3,000,000 rows in one table, with every column null. This
last time it inflated the size of the RB2 file from a normal 33MB up to
406MB, at which point it filled all available space on the hard disk, which
caused problems in all other databases.

To load the file, we create a variable for the filename (vfile), and we need
to change the quotes, but other than that it's pretty straightforward.

SET QUOTES = "
LOAD cheques FRO .vfile AS ASCII
SET QUOTES = '

I cleared out the null rows and reloaded the database and we were up and
running again. I tried tracing the program to load the same file again and
it worked!

Has anyone seen this before, or knows what I should be looking for to
prevent this from happening again? Thanks in advance for your assistance.
